Many a car enthusiast at one time or another has dreamt of owning a Porsche 911; few 911â s have set the pulses racing like the poster car for the 80â s generation with the iconic whale tail accompanied by fabulous performance. The 3.2 Carrera is revered as the ultimate development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1963. Launched in 1984, and reviving the â Carrera' name for the first time since 1977, the most notable advance on the 80's Carrera was the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine; although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the '3.2' was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974, a torque rich 231bhp - enough to propel the lithe and slippery coup to over 150 mph, with 0-60 mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 Carreras feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche's legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long lasting. This 1998 example of Porsche's 911 Carrera is offered in Ice White with contrasting burgundy leather interior and benefitting from a new hood and mechanism. The cabin of this 911 is a well kept pleasant place to be, the wide body coachwork is in very good order which combined with a recent service gives any potential new owner a lot of confidence in this 80's sports car. It is unknown when but this example has been converted from the Targa derivative to the more desirable Convertible, we are informed this can be achieved with relative ease as the original Targa and Convertible shared the same chassis and strengthening. The work here appears to have been to a very high standard and thus no on looking admirer would know its origins as a whistling Targa! Offered with a history file which contains multiple maintenance invoices and previous MoT test certificates, including invoices for a recent service with NVS and a valid MoT test certificate. This Porsche is not only offered in very good order but has an interesting tale to tell.
* Interested parties should note that this car has had a new clutch fitted, the receipt for this can be found in the history file. The hood on this car can currently only be operated manually and we are informed by the vendor a new module for electronic operation will be required. *
