The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996 and not designed as a luxury 4x4; whilst certainly up-market compared to preceding Land Rover models, the early Range Rovers had fairly basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards that were designed to be washed down with a hose. Convenience features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth or leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later in the production run or as options. Marketed as 'A Car For All Reasons', the Range Rover was more capable off-road than the Land Rover but was much more comfortable, offering a top speed in excess of 100mph.
Finished in Artic White with the rare and original tan cloth interior, original â teddy bearâ carpet and mats, this original two-door Range Rover was registered in Scotland before being exported to South Africa. Purchased on its return to the UK by the current owner in April 2017, over £20,000 was spent on the car, replacing the engine, the paint, trim and various new parts. Described by the vendor as a 100% solid, very clean car and a wonderful driver, the odometer reading of 22,000 miles however cannot be warranted. The car comes with an MoT test certificate valid until August 2019, a V5C, invoices for the works carried out, a tow bar and its original engine. These original manual gearbox early Range Rovers are highly sought after and this example is an unmissable classic.
