The Porsche 993 was introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 964 generation of the iconic 911 model and was built until 1998. Regarded by many as the best generation of 911s ever produced from Stuttgart, this car was the last to use the air cooled flat six engine that had powered 911s for the previous thirty years. The 993 was offered in a number of guises and specifications during its production life including two and four wheel drive trains, known as Carrera and Carrera 4 respectively. The 993 was the first generation 911 to have standard six-speed manual transmission. The Carrera, Carrera S, Cabriolet and Targa models (2WD) were available with a Tiptronic four-speed automatic transmission which was first introduced in the 964 but the manual to this day is seen as more desirable. This well presented 911 Carrera 2 Convertible was first registered in August 1994, supplied by Chapelgate Porsche and is offered in Polar Silver metallic with contrasting dark blue leather interior and matching blue hood with 18 inch Carrera classic alloys and bridge spoiler. This manual example comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and has a comprehensive and documented history file; indeed the ownership since 2012 has been exceptional with a history file bursting with invoices and servicing - a real credit to the owner - and also includes a new hood and tonneau in 2014. The service schedule from new to 2010 was exclusively with Porsche main dealers having no less than 14 stamps before being taken over more recently with Porsche specialists Jazz Porsche in St Albans. This car represents much of what is desirable in a 993 Porsche 911; a manual convertible in a lovely colour combination and, as with the iconic 911's of the past, a rear engine with rear wheel drive offering perfect balance. An attractively priced convertible, a perfect investment and great fun motoring in a great value air cooled classic.
