This fantastic Alfa Romeo was first registered in Sicily on 16th July 1959 and remained with the original owner until 2011 when it had been off road and stored unused for some 20 years. The next owner from 2011 to 2015 set about transforming this Sprint into the amazing car we have here today, a tribute to a period privateerâ s road/race Alfa Romeo.
Over 50,000 was spent, on parts alone, including a genuine numbered Veloce block, new old stock Conrero engine parts, original TZ tachometer, original SZ inlet manifold and much more; the mechanical build was completed by an old school master mechanic and this Alfa Romeo delivers a driving experience like no other. There are over 100 photos of the mechanical build which can be seen on file.
The car is presented in its original Rosso Red colour, with all the panel fitments in good condition. When the suspension was removed for the restoration, all the wheel arches were stripped to bare metal and given a thin satin black paint finish (again photo documented). There are pictures of the car prior to the works being done to show the well preserved condition of the vehicle. The glass and what little external trim is fitted, are very good and its original SV badging is fitted throughout.
This car has a completely rebuilt engine around a genuine numbered Sprint Veloce 1300cc block using new old stock Conrero cams. The valves were are bespoke from Conrero original drawings, new seats, Arrow pistons, all new bearings, seals, water pump, distributor and ignition system plus OE GTA type oil cap/breather and original TZ inlet manifold. Around 1,500 kms have been completed since its rebuild. It is fitted with rebuilt Weber 40DCOE2 carburettors, Sprint filter box, rebuilt upgraded five speed gearbox, alloy clutch and the fuel tank was removed, cleaned and refinished. All new suspension bushes and ball joints, all suspension components removed and repainted, adjustable dampers fitted and a new SS exhaust system has also been fitted. Also to note, this fabulous and desirable Italian beauty sits on Borrani wheels. A full inventory of the works that have been carried out on the car can be seen in the history file. A custom bolt-in cage has been fitted (side sections removed for photography but come with the car) and there is a quilted floor covering and parcel shelf trim which have all been handmade together with new door cards and head lining. Donâ t confuse this car with the average track prepared Sprint. This Alfa has great charm and even greater performance and is suitable for a number of events; it was a competitor in the 2017 Monte Pellegrino Historic and appeared at the Classic Alfa Romeo Goodwood track day in 2018.
This characterful thoroughbred sports car is for someone who wants something different and who appreciates the best quality workmanship.
