The Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car, designed by Frank Lamberty and Julian Hoenig, first appeared at the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show and the 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The R8 road car was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30th September 2006. There was some confusion with the name which the car shares with the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning R8 Le Mans Prototype (LMP). Importantly, six-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Jacky Ickx described the R8 as 'the best handling road car today'.Although it was rumoured by the automotive press since the announcement of the production R8 in 2006, it was only in August 2008 that spy shots of a convertible R8 'Spyder' from filming scenes of the movie Iron Man Two were published online. Compared with the coup model, the convertible had extra chassis support, a pair of roll-over safety bars, as well as minor changes such as the location of the fuel filler cap. It was powered by the 5.2 FSI V10 engine and seen as the now natural rival for the Porsche 911.This example of the V10 5.2 litre R8 is offered in satin grey with contrasting black alloys, the satin grey finish provided by a professional no expense spared wrap and covers all door sills hiding an original colour of Ibis White, this of course can be removed should a new owner want. Costing when new £110,915, a further £3,285 in optional extras were added including Carbon Sigma inlays, Audi parking system, cruise control, coloured striking for the Nappa leather and a leather gear knob.
In 2016 this example was acquired by professional footballer Tom Bradshaw, unfortunately in November 2017 Bradshaw had a crash in his R8, as such the car was subject to an insurance claim however since then the car has been fully repaired and condition inspected by Autolign, a certificate for this certification can be found within the history file coupled to a fourwheel total alignment. Bradshaw was unhurt in the incident and declared available to play for Barnsley's game against Derby County on the following Saturday. This Spider will race from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds while remaining poised and looking fabulous. Within the history file is a V5C registration document demonstrating Bradshaws former ownership and a valid MoT test certificate, most recently this example has also been serviced with Audi for the benefit of any new owner.
