Officially introduced at the Paris Salon in October 1975, the 308 GTBâ s styling was created by Pininfarina. The stunning two seat coachwork was all new, but incorporated all of the old magic by blending aspects of the Dino 206/246 with the later 365 GT4/BB. Reminiscent of the Boxer was the dihedral groove at bumper level splitting top and bottom, the plunging nose and the sail panels reaching back to meet a shallower spoiler, while the conical side air intakes and recessed concave rear window were familiar from the Dino.
The 308 GTB employed a tubular steel chassis with independent coil spring/wishbone suspension front and rear, complemented by anti-roll bars, adjustable dampers and powerful disc brakes. At its heart was a Formula One derived, all alloy, quad camshaft 3.0 litre V8 engine, allied to a transversely mounted five speed gearbox. Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection was added for the 1980 308 GTBi and GTSi, decreasing emissions.
One of the first 308 GTBiâ s originally imported, this lovely matching numbers car, of which only 23 are thought to remain in the UK, comes with a full service history and has recently had a full service which included cambelt, alternator, oil cooler pipes, plugs and fluids as well as a new clutch fitted. A low mileage example for its year, this iconic small Ferrari is the rarest of the 308 models destined for the UK with just 42 examples officially imported, this one going into production in April 1981.
Presented in its original Rosso Chiaro with beige hide, this beautifully presented 308 GTBi was specified with air conditioning, deep front spoiler and TRX wheels. Supplied with V5C registration document,a current MoT test certificate valid until July 2019 and accompanied by its original handbook pack and tool kit, previous MoT test certificates and a comprehensive ownership history.
