That Jaguar's XJS will become a 'bona fide' classic is beyond doubt. Launched in 1975, its twenty one year production life was a testimony to the excellence of its basic design. With all round independent, coil sprung suspension, power assisted rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, its excellent ride/handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's superlative 5.3 litre developed some 295bhp.
This is a rare car having been converted to a manual five speed Getrag 265 gearbox and having Jaguar XJS Le Mans wheels fitted. A photographic record documents a 2011 renovation of this attractive Coventry cat. New front wings and rear quarter panels were fitted, jacking points strengthened, floor pans and sills repaired and a TWR body kit was fitted. The subsequent bare metal respray has aged well and this stunning XJS presents extremely well in metallic blue and magnolia leather interior. The work was not limited to cosmetics but includes fully refurbished front and rear subframes, polybushes fitted to all suspension joints and new shock absorbers all round. The rear differential and steering rack were both rebuilt and the underside of the car was waxoiled.
With only three previous owners the mileage is recorded as 75,000 which appear to be genuine from the paperwork with the car, this includes the original bill of sale, a folder full of relevant paperwork ,the owner's manual, most of the cars previous MoT test certificates and a well stamped service record. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until September 2019. This handsome XJS not only presents in good order throughout but can be driven away from the sale.
